About EmpowHer
We don't create fear. We build confidence.
EmpowHer is a women's self-defense and personal boundaries training organization created to help women protect themselves mentally, emotionally, and physically. We combine practical skills with the confidence, awareness, and personal authority women need to trust themselves and move through the world boldly.
Why EmpowHer?
Every women deserves to feel confident walking to her car, traveling alone, speaking up for herself, setting a limit, and protecting the people she loves.
Yet too many women and girls are taught to question their instincts, stay quiet to keep the peace, or prioritize someone else's comfort over their own safety. EmpowHer was create to change that.
We believe confidence can be developed. Awareness can be trained. Boundaries can be strengthened. Physical skills can be learned. When women prepare instead of panic, they do not simply become safer - they become freer.

Our Mission
"To empower women through education, confidence, community and practical self-defense training that helps them protect every part of themselves."
Meet the Instructors
Rebekah
Rebekah leads the classroom portion of EmpowHer, helping women understand how their values, personal rights, boundaries, awareness, and confidence work together as tools for personal safety.
With a master’s degree in counseling from Texas Christian University, Rebekah brings a deep understanding of people, relationships, communication, and the experiences that shape how we see ourselves. For more than ten years, she has mentored college women as they have navigated relationships, independence, confidence, and learning to become their own strongest advocates. Her volunteer work with organizations supporting women affected by abuse further strengthened her commitment to prevention, awareness, and healthy boundaries.
Rebekah is especially passionate about making boundaries practical. She believes boundaries are about much more than saying “no.” They begin with knowing what matters to you, recognizing when something does not feel right, communicating clearly, and trusting yourself enough to act.
Her greatest inspiration for EmpowHer is her teenage daughter. As a mom, Rebekah began thinking about what she wanted her daughter—and all young women—to understand before navigating the world on their own: self-defense starts long before a situation becomes physical.
Through EmpowHer, Rebekah helps women recognize their instincts, understand their rights, use their voices, and make confident decisions. Her goal is not to teach women to live in fear. It is to give them the awareness, boundaries, and confidence to feel prepared.
For Rebekah, true self-defense begins with knowing yourself, trusting yourself, and believing you have the right to protect every part of who you are.

"When you know your value, you stop negotiating your worth. "

Lisa
Lisa brings the physical self-defense portion of EmpowHer to life, helping women turn awareness, confidence, and boundaries into practical action.
As a fourth-degree martial artist and experienced instructor, Lisa understands that effective self-defense is not about overpowering someone or winning a fight. It is about recognizing danger, responding decisively, creating space, and getting home safely. Lisa was also personally trained by the lead detective of the Fort Worth Police Department’s Homicide Unit, giving her additional insight into situational awareness, recognizing potential threats, and the realities of violent encounters. Lisa is passionate about helping women understand what their bodies can do. Through hands-on instruction, she teaches techniques for maintaining distance, using leverage, breaking free from common holds, and responding when a situation becomes physical. Just as importantly, she helps participants practice using their voices, trusting their instincts, and giving themselves permission to act.
She believes physical skills become most powerful when they are supported by awareness, clear boundaries, and confidence. EmpowHer was created to bring those pieces together, giving women the opportunity to strengthen both their mindset and their ability to protect themselves.
For Lisa, the goal is not to make women fearful of what could happen. It is to help them stand taller, trust themselves, and walk away knowing they are stronger and more capable than they realized.

Confidence is your first line of self-defense.
Self-defense starts long before a situation becomes physical. It begins when you trust your instincts, recognize when something feels wrong, speak clearly, set a boundary, and know you have the right to leave.
EmpowHer gives women the mindset and practical tools to do exactly that. We do not teach women to live in fear. We help them prepare, practice, and discover just how capable they already are.
